With re this: Black women during slavery were forced to not only endure the same backbreaking manual labor as the men -it’s beyond truth, and honestly, we have never been afforded the space or grace to be women in this Country and let’s not pretend as if Malcolm X didn’t say it already: the Black Woman is the most hated animal on earth. All the BS is proof that we are vilified, set up, misused, denied every damn thing and to place icing on the stale ass cake, they hate what they created. Isn’t that some really funky 💩 ?

It sure is. It’s so interesting the way we pretend lack women are lazy when in fact. We never not working. This has been heavy writing

It’s interesting how they label us angry, no we are damn tired! It’s interesting that they label us strong, no we have nothing to say we realize ignorance, like COVID, is contagious. It’s interesting how they label us loud, no they don’t listen. It’s interesting how our men engage in the same gaslighting, no simple asses we are not mouthy, we have say, we do all the damn work!

I’ve been studying that too. And I also really want to write about how these oppressive narratives caused more division between bm and bw. But idk if I have the spoons rn lmao.

It has because BW organized the Civil Rights Movement, BM gOT all the credit, BW took advantage of the opportunities the CRM afforded primarily education, BM went to work in factories, the Industrial Revolution ended when the Civil Right Movement began, fast forward to now, and BW are qualified for all the high paying jobs, BM are not - they can throw a damn football, dribble a basketball, brag about nonsense, but we can own AND run the damn company, now BM is pissed because they listened to the gaslighting, and it’s all our fault… we should have told them, girl… it really gets me heated!

I remember learning about all the different stereotypes when I was watching a documentary on young black women in beauty pageants. It was (and still is) a powerful history lesson and it’s insane how it is still relevant today.

SIS...I am catching up on my reading on here in the middle of a flare up. Love the reading. Hate the part where it feels like a fireworks show in each limb. So I am gonna be in your comment section HEAVY, just so ya know lol

I can never get over how potent your writing voice is, how tenderizing your stories are and how much synergy I feel between us!

Even outside of corporate, too, I notice the same thing, like everyone was given this script but me. And it's like I did all this studying and work in school so that I can be treated like this?? And the worst part is when other black ppl are in on it too.

Yes, like a disease - can make you feel insane. Thank you for taking the time to write about it. It helps a lot to see it in words, to give it a name and see the history.

I’m glad I could do that for us.

This was so on point. I quit my corporate job after almost 10 years in March to follow the path of my soul. And my foremothers had been whispering of a new path. This was 🔥🔥 & love the book club idea with mom. Might have to do the same with mine!
